Abstracting
MEDITECH's Abstracting software collects and reports various patient information, such as prospective payment and Peer Review Organization (PRO) data, as well as data for state reporting requirements. The Abstracting software enables users to:
- Calculate Diagnostic Related Groups (DRGs) automatically
- Review patient charges concurrently
- Generate DRG statistics for case mix analysis
- Create organization-defined DRG reports
- Create and maintain patient abstracts on-line
- Generate abstract statistics
- Create and maintain various projects on-line.

al. Integrated with MEDITECH's Registration, Medical Records and Billing/Accounts Receivable applications, the software provides an easy method of capturing and reporting patient and financial data. The module also offers:
- Coding of both inpatients and outpatients using both ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding
- Connectivity to a number of encoding systems
- Attestation Statements and the capability for clinicians to electronically sign off on these statements
- Customer-defined edit checks to guarantee all necessary fields of information are completed before finalizing an abstract.
